A house of Istrian stone
For around two hundred years the house has stood in Žužići, a small village near Višnjan. It was built of local stone, the way houses in the Istrian countryside always were, and for generations it was home to our family.
Our story
This is the house our ancestors lived in. Rather than let it slip away, we chose to restore it — slowly, by hand, and as faithfully to old Istria as we could.

For around two hundred years the house has stood in Žužići, a small village near Višnjan. It was built of local stone, the way houses in the Istrian countryside always were, and for generations it was home to our family.
This is how the house looked when we decided to give it a second life.

Four years of patient work. We kept all of the old walls, put in new beams, laid a new roof, restored the main entry and the old windows, and dug the pool into the garden.

Inside, some of the furniture was made by hand for the house, and some are antiques we restored piece by piece — so the rooms carry the same story as the walls around them.

“Villa Tona is an example of restoration of traditional architecture.”
